Remember when President Donald Trump operated for office and built campaigning for women’s empowerment a priority?
If you don’t it’s likely because you were too distracted by him saying he likes to grab girls “by the pussy, ” proposing we check out a sex tape of former Miss Universe contestant, Alicia Machado, or calling Hillary Clinton a “nasty female, ” among other things.
But in his daily press briefing on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was sure to let everyone know that Trump is great at empowering women.
Sadly, he was not being ironic.
After announcing that Trump would be dropping by the Womens Empowerment Panel hosted by the White House later on in the working day, Spicer launched into a serious kudo of the president’s respect for women and dignity he takes in their role in his administration. * eye rolling *
“Womens History Month is coming to an aim, but the Trump administration is committed to empowering women in the workplace, ” Spicer told. “The President built womens empowerment a priority throughout the campaign, speaking out on affordable childcare and paid family leave, investing in womens health, and the barriers faced by female entrepreneurs and business owners.”
Based on Trump’s past misogynistic behavior and remarks, it should come as no surprise that Spicer’s remarks left people utterly baffled. Like, hello? Was Spicey living under a boulder during the campaign?
When Spicer, with a straight face, claimed Trump prioritized women’s empowerment during the campaign, why didn’t a reporter confront him?

Despite Trump’s past sins, his loyal press secretary continued to publicly brag about his work with women.
“The president belief, as the first lady said this morning, ‘Wherever girls are lessened, the entire world is lessened with them. However, wherever girls are empowered, towns, villages, colleges and economies are empowered, and together, we are all made stronger, ‘” Spicer went on to explain, before promising, “The Trump administration will continue to work to ensure that the American economy is a place where women can work and thrive.”
Now, okay. Sure. I guess Donald Trump empowers women in the sense that his actions enrage them so immensely that they’re inspired to come together to protest for their rights, but other than that? We’re not too sure what Spicer is bragging about.
But to be fair, Trump has also claimed on several occasions to have IMMENSE respect for women, so perhaps Spicer is just recurring his boss’s words.
The media is so after me on girls Wow, this is a tough business. Nobody has more respect for women than Donald Trump!

As the briefing progressed, Spicer proved that, like Trump, he too respects girls a great deal by telling April Ryan Washington bureau chief for American Urban Radio Networks to stop shaking her head.
Melania Trump: We need to stand up for women’s rights.
Sean Spicer: April Ryan, stop shaking your chief. You’ve been warned.

Welp, that settles it then.
