Shonda Rhimes is get real about weight loss!
After losing close to 150 pounds, the showrunner behind some of ABC’s biggest displays described just how much it changed how people treated her and even looked at her.
In her Shondaland newsletter, the writer and producer confessed both men and women started seeing her in a new lighting 😛 TAGEND
“Women I barely knew gushed. And I signify GUSHED. Like I was holding-a-new-baby-gushed. Simply there was no new newborn. It was just me. In a dress. With makeup on and my whisker all did, yes. Butstill the same me. In one of my same dresses( cause why am I gonna buy a NEW dress when I can take this to a seamstress and she can just make it smaller? Who am I, The Crown? No, I’m from the Midwest, baby, and I come with coupons ). Women gushed anyway.”
“They spoke to me. THEY SPOKE TO ME. Like endure still and have all along been conversations with me about things. It was embarrassing. But even more disconcerting was that all these people abruptly seemed entirely comfortable talking to me about my torso. Telling me I looked pretty’ or that they were proud of me’ or that, Wow, you are so hot now’ or, You appear astonishing! ‘”
It’s really crazy how much of a sudden transformation she went through!
Shonda explained 😛 TAGEND
“I discovered that NOW people ascertained me as a PERSON. What the inferno did they insure me as before? How invisible was I to them then? How hard did they work to avoid me? What terms did they use to describe me? What value did they put on my presence at a party, a lunch, its consideration of the item? When I was fat, I wasn’t a PERSON to these people. Like I had been an invisible wife who abruptly materialized in front of them. Poof! There I am. Thin and ready for a chat. Being thinner doesn’t build you a different person. It merely builds you thinner.”
No wonder she was so disturbed by people gushing over her merely because “shes lost” weight…
