Its not unusual for women to mention or shout something while having an IUD inserted.
IUDinsertions can be somewhat painful for some people, a nurse at a womens health care clinic in the Midwest tellsElite Daily. Ive heard a lot of curse word while doing IUDinsertions. Ive had people curse at me, which I never take personally.
The nurse, who goes by the name Dream Ghoul on Twitter( and asked we not use her real name or place because shedid not want to implicate her place of employment ), spoke with me for Elite Daily and admitted that womens health care is under strike right now, something anyonefollowing the GOPs American Health Care Act( AHCA) plan and President Donald Trumps reported plan to take away birth control coverageis all too familiar with.
But while doing an IUD insertion on Friday, something came out of one patients mouth.
As the IUD was going in, the patient apparently wailed, F* CK YOU, PAUL RYAN.
Iabsolutely have never heard something so funny as when some girl wailed, F* ck you, Paul Ryan! ‘ Dream Ghoul tellsElite Daily.
Paul Ryan is the Republican Speaker of the House who wasbehind the AHCA push to repeal and replace Obamacare. Twenty-threemillion people “d lose” insurance by 2026 under the AHCA, according to the nonpartisanCongressional Budget Offices report.
Its because of Ryanthat many wives are dreading losing health care coverage.
This has been a obses since the election of Trump and the majority-Republican Congress. Former President Barack Obamacared about all women having contraceptives, but the Republicans are kinda taking the opposite road here.
Because of this fear, many wives have opted to get IUDs because they can last longer than a presidential term.
[ Patients] bring up the political situation; reproductive health care is really under strike in this country right now, Dream Ghoul says. So people bring that up in our clinicbut never in such a loud way.
After the woman called at Paul Ryan during her IUD insertion, she apologized profusely for swearing.
But we were pretty much in hysterics, Dream Ghoul admitsabout the staff.
[ The menace to women health care is] something thats constantly on our thinkers, and to have it released in such a way was such comic succor for all of us that “weve been” needed, she tells Elite Daily.
While it was a hilarious minute, what stimulated it funny was really very serious.
Its a funny thing, she says, Dream Ghoul told, but the questions behind “its not” that funny, and thats the fact that we consider so many patients who are not sure if theyre going to have reproductive services in the future, so wives feel like theyre forced into get these long-acting contraceptives when it is not possible to the right choice for their bodies.
Feeling like you have to get an IUD because youre going to lose health insurance is a way that your choice of what to do with your body is getting taken away.
If youre feeling pressured to get an IUD based on the political climate, thats not good, Dr.Diane Horvath-Cosper, Reproductive Health Advocacy Fellow at Physicians for Reproductive Health, previously told Elite Dailylast fall after the election.
Dream Ghouls tweet about the patients political shout speedily get thousands of retweets all of which happened while she was still operating, so she logged back on at the end of the day only to see the masses of responses.
She said she hasnt gotten too many trolls or negative replies. She believes thats probably because so many people are just as fed up with the current situationfor womens health.
