The city of St. Louis passed a statute in February of this year that built it illegal for employers and landlords to discriminate against ladies because of their reproductive health care choices.
However, it seems Missouri wants to turn this law on its head.
This week, theMissouri Senate approved a bill that would legally allow landlords and employers to discriminate against women who are pregnant, on family planning, or have had an abortion, according to Bustle and HelloGiggles.
Should this bill pass , it will be legalfor an employer to fire a pregnant employee, or refuse to hire her in the first place after learning “shes on” birth control. The same goes for a landowner who is selecting tenants, though awomans reproductive health shouldnt be the concern of her boss or her landlord. Health clinics can also face unexpected inspections with the pas of this bill.
Reproductive rights are really been a populartopic of discussion since Donald Trump took office.
Quartz reportedthat the presidents 2018 budgetproposal called for alarge sum of money to extend abstention education and personal responsibility education program all the way until 2024.
This isnt the first time that the president has come under burn for ignoring women health care.
People have become particularly upset with the fact that Ivanka Trump hadnt spoke up about womens health, though she continues to act as an adviser in her parents administration.
These issues remain ongoing.
Next week, the Missouri House will conveneeither to approve the legislation as is and pass it alongto the governor. The other alternative would be tonegotiate with the Senate for adjustments.
